Content Alert! Easter is here

Yesterday I wrote about the benefit of great content and today I thought I’d give an example.  I was talking to one of our customers last night – they wanted me to update their site, change some sliders, add some text, change some dates and so on.  Towards the end of the conversation I asked what they were doing about Easter.  Pretty obvious question for me.  Easter is the major thing in the Christian calendar and it seems obvious that you should be putting stuff on the website about it.  As it goes they like many others didn’t have plans to do anything special.  And that’s the thing.  If you want your website to ROCK then you need to grasp these opportunities all the time.  It’s what will make your audience come back for more!

happy EasterNow you might be wondering what to write, you might wonder who should write it and you might have any number of other thoughts but the reality is if you want a successful website you just need to get on with it and put something – anything down.  To help you along I’ve a few suggested structures you might want to think about:

Article possibility 1: the Easter story

Tell the Easter story.  Set out in simple language the Easter story and what happened:

  • Jesus rides to Jeruslem on a donkey and is hailed, remember “I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.” Luke 19:40
  • Judas agrees to betray Jesus for money in Luke 22
  • They sit together and have the last supper, breaking bread and wine together in Luke 22:7
  • Jesus Prays on the Mount of Olives and is captured and taken to be crucified, Luke 22:39
  • Peter betrays Jesus
  • Jesus is crucified and buried
  • Three days later he rises up again

hArticle possibility 2: the wonder of resurrection

Before Easter focus on the lead up and the last supper.  Explain that something is coming and that it happens at Easter so visitors should come back to find out more.

Next add an article about Jesus being captured and crucified and explain the horrors of this.

Finally explain that He rose again and the timeline and why we celebrate it at Easter.  Don’t get to caught up in the timeline since the exact times are not that clear and hard to understand fully, for example the two Saturdays for the Passover weekend and so on.

Article possibility 3: The true meaning of Easter – it’s not about the chocolate!

A lighter message explaining the true meaning of Easter and why it is so important.  Stay away from the detail.  Explain that Jesus was betrayed, killed and yet rose again.  Focus on the salvation aspect rather than the Easter story.  Allow people to focus on Jesus beating death because of His life and what he did.  A perfect life given for us to allow the forgiveness of our sins.  The only way to reach Heaven.

The list of possibilities is endless, you could add in material about the two thieves who were crucified at the same time or the man who carried the cross for him  Lots of parts to an Easter story to engage your visitors using a Christian or Church Website.

So three possible articles that you can fill out and use.  Remember as an important part of the Christian faith this is an ideal opportunity to spread God’s word and let people know there is more to Easter than chocolate eggs.  There is salvation.

It doesn’t take long to produce an article for your website and once you have it there you can promote it to your members and new visitors alike.  Remember the equation I love 10 x 365 = 3650 visitors a year hearing about God’s Word.  So why wait an an article right now and help use your site to spread God’s Word.
