{"id":396,"date":"2015-06-10T10:20:28","date_gmt":"2015-06-10T09:20:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.websites4christians.com\/our-blog\/?p=396"},"modified":"2015-06-11T12:16:53","modified_gmt":"2015-06-11T11:16:53","slug":"training-at-wallacewell","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/websites4christians.com\/our-blog\/training-at-wallacewell.html","title":{"rendered":"Training at Wallacewell"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today I went to Wallacewell Community Fellowship to train volunteers\u00a0in using the their website. \u00a0Like many churches they have a website and now they want to do more. \u00a0Often we provide this type of support by using remote software to login and show how to work the site. \u00a0In this case we were actually able to attend site and show them in person. \u00a0Of course for me it was great to meet in person and hear about the day to day life of the church.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-399 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.websites4christians.com\/our-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/blondComputer-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Computer Training\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/websites4christians.com\/our-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/blondComputer-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/websites4christians.com\/our-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/blondComputer-1024x683.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>As I came away from the church it reminded me of a problem that we often come across in Churches and Christian organisations. \u00a0They are often run and staffed by volunteers. \u00a0This is great because it shows a huge commitment by people to make the church and it&#8217;s \u00a0work in the community successful. \u00a0However it can mean that there is a bit of turnover in who is running the website. \u00a0For some churches this turns into a bit of a problem. \u00a0They don&#8217;t know who has the passwords and they can&#8217;t remember how to operate the site. \u00a0Things go from bad to worse and the website falls into disrepair.<\/p>\n<p>And that&#8217;s the point I was thinking about. \u00a0It&#8217;s no good just getting a site builder site where you&#8217;re on your own. \u00a0Big companies work by volume. \u00a0They need thousands of sites to make a profit and so they don&#8217;t have time to help or train. \u00a0Sure they&#8217;ll point you at documents or videos but in practise what you want is someone you can talk to who&#8217;ll help you sort things out. \u00a0So this reminded me\u00a0why we&#8217;re different and why it&#8217;s worth the effort to be different. \u00a0We believe that you should have a fall back system. \u00a0Someone you can go to to get things sorted out even when no one else seems able to help! \u00a0That&#8217;s why we provide training to allow you flexibility and to remove the worry about the site.<\/p>\n<p>So next time you&#8217;re thinking of a website why not have a think about what you&#8217;ll do when the person running it leaves &#8211; will you be able to cope?
