{"id":377,"date":"2015-05-22T16:39:00","date_gmt":"2015-05-22T15:39:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.websites4christians.com\/our-blog\/?p=377"},"modified":"2015-06-11T12:16:38","modified_gmt":"2015-06-11T11:16:38","slug":"mobile-a-major-shift-are-you-ready","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/websites4christians.com\/our-blog\/mobile-a-major-shift-are-you-ready.html","title":{"rendered":"Mobile \u2013 a major shift are you ready?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Mobile \u2013 a major shift are you ready?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Websites\u00a0are\u00a0a great way of reaching out to existing and new church members.\u00a0 They can explain why you are a Christian and what the Christian life means to you. \u00a0However research shows that you need to be on mobile devices if you want to reach out the whole internet audience because everyone is going mobile!<\/p>\n<p><strong>2014 \u2013 The year of the mobile website<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-378 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.websites4christians.com\/our-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/girlonphone-300x188.jpg\" alt=\"girlonphone\" width=\"300\" height=\"188\" \/>In 2014 a major shift began in the way users used the internet.\u00a0 More and more people started to use iPads and mobile devices like phones to browse websites.\u00a0 This means that by the end of 2015 more people will browse the web using a mobile device more than any other type of device.\u00a0 So your website needs to be mobile ready.\u00a0 Some companies will tell you that their template system is mobile ready but what they really mean is that you need two websites \u2013 one for mobile and one for the pc.\u00a0 Whilst this is okay, in practise few people have time to keep two websites going \u2013 especially if they are run by volunteers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Websites that work across all devices<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-380 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.websites4christians.com\/our-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/WeddingBlissFull-300x178.jpg\" alt=\"WeddingBlissFull\" width=\"300\" height=\"178\" srcset=\"https:\/\/websites4christians.com\/our-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/WeddingBlissFull-300x178.jpg 300w, https:\/\/websites4christians.com\/our-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/WeddingBlissFull-1024x609.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/websites4christians.com\/our-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/WeddingBlissFull.jpg 1196w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Instead you should plan to make your website work with all forms of browser.\u00a0 It should react or resize according to the screen that you are using.\u00a0 This in turn means that you need to design each page with this in mind.\u00a0 A great way to do this is to use tiles.\u00a0 These are squares or rectangles that are akin to buttons.\u00a0 They often have a picture and text on them and they lead to a page with information.\u00a0 So you might have a tile with a picture of the summer club and when the visitor clicks on it taking them to a page all about the summer club.\u00a0 This could include a booking form and perhaps a photo gallery.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-381 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.websites4christians.com\/our-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/WeddingBlissMobile-132x300.jpg\" alt=\"WeddingBlissMobile\" width=\"132\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/websites4christians.com\/our-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/WeddingBlissMobile-132x300.jpg 132w, https:\/\/websites4christians.com\/our-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/WeddingBlissMobile.jpg 308w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 132px) 100vw, 132px\" \/>By designing for mobile using tiles or similar techniques you make it easy for the site to resize and move elements around the page.\u00a0 You can see this illustrated in the diagram.\u00a0 Here a simple web page is changed around to fit depending on the device being used.\u00a0 This is achieved by a method called media queries and careful planning of size.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Think mobile and be part of the next internet wave<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When designing websites think of the target devices too.\u00a0 This means using techniques and layouts like tiles to enable the easy resizing of pages.\u00a0 This will mean that you\u2019re ready for the next wave of the internet \u2013 the mobile browsers!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mobile \u2013 a major shift are you ready?
